SPIRITUAL TEACHING
The following story is from the Hassidic path. Hebrew חסידות can be rendered “piety.” Hassidism is a sect within Orthodox Judaism and advocates spirituality and gladness through mysticism. The Rabbi plays a centeral role, as transmitter of the mystical Experience-of-Truth.

The Jews in a small town in Russia were eagerly awaiting the arrival of a great, Hassidic Rabbi. This was going to be a rare event, so they spent a lot of time preparing questions to ask him.
When he finally arrived, they met with him in the town hall. He sensed the tension in the atmosphere, as all prepared to listen to the answers he would give them.
He said nothing at first; he just gazed into their eyes and hummed a melody. Soon, everyone began to hum with him. He started to sing, and they sang with him. He swayed and danced in solemn, measured steps; they joined in. They became so involved in the dance, so absorbed in its movements, they were lost to everything else on earth. So, every person in the crowd was made whole, was healed from the inner fragmentaion that keeps from "seeing" the inner Truth.
The dancing continued for almost an hour. Afterward, everyone sat in the silent peace pervading the hall. The Rabbi spoke the only words he said that evening: “I trust I have answered your questions.” Then, he left without saying another word. All went home gladdened of heart.

The Hassidic speaks of Devekut. This is Hebrew for “communion.” The Hassidic affirms the always-present-Presence of God in the world, and the potential of fellowship between the “upper realm” and “lower realm.” When moving outside the self-sense, one links with the Divine in oneness, even amdist the ordinary, small daily acts of life. All life becomes seen and felt as holy. This all mysticism shares in common.
And mysticism teaches that we do not so much need answers, but oneness with the Love who loves us, and we Love it. So, surrender any felt-necessity of knowing cerebrally. Open the heart, enjoy God, and be enjoyed by God. Amen!

Today, choose one small act to engage in prayerfully, fully immerse yourself in it, rejoicing in communion with Spirit through it.
